The Beauty That Is Positano

While at Ponza, we found out that my cousin was visiting Italy and staying in an area called Positano so we decided to make our way there to see him.  We’re so glad that we did because Positano turned out to be one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen.  A picturesque little town built vertically on the side of a mountain.  Its tiny little roads are dotted with fantastic stores that sell local products themed around lemons which they grow in the city.  They have beautiful glass tables, vases and ceramic glassware adorned with bright yellow lemons as well as lemon-scented candles and soaps.

All the walkways and roads are narrow and move upwards so there are no flat surfaces at all, we needed to send a package and to find the courier office we had to walk over 300 steps to reach it and we’re so glad we did as we saw the most beautiful sites on the way up of pastel colored homes with a backdrop of fig trees and grapes overlooking the sea. On the way down we walked through all the shops and cafes, absorbing the beauty of it all.

We enjoyed Positano so much that we decided to spend two nights before moving on. On the next day we took a 20-minute ferry to Amalfi to visit this neighboring town which was also clustered with lovely shops and restaurants but it didn’t compare in its beauty and characteristic to Positano.  If anyone plans to visit Italy then Positano is highly recommended, as per my daughter’s description: Positano is a like a live postcard! 😊
